Dr. Fowzia has returned to Pakistan following her long-awaited meeting with her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently detained in the United States. This visit marked the end of a 20-year separation, with the encounter taking place in Fort Worth, US.
Upon arriving in Pakistan, Dr. Fowzia shared her reactions with the press, stating, “I never envisioned Aafia would be in such dire circumstances.”
She credited Prime Minister Shehabz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and former president Asif Ali Zardari for their instrumental roles in facilitating her meeting with Aafia Siddiqui in the US.
In addition to their assistance, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui acknowledged the crucial efforts of the Islamabad High Court, pointing out that the solution to Aafia’s release lies within Islamabad.
Looking ahead, she expressed her hope to reunite with Aafia Siddiqui again in July or August.
