Fourteen stranded Pakistanis, who were scheduled to return home by the Samjhota Express, arrived in Lahore on Tuesday from Delhi via the ‘Dosti Bus’ service.
Their Indian visas had expired and they were to return to Lahore by the Samjhota train on Oct 8 and then on Oct 12 but could not travel because of the cancellation in the wake of farmers’ agitation in Indian Punjab.
Pakistan Railways authorities in Lahore said they hoped the Samjhota Express would resume its service between Wagah and Attari from Thursday.
An immigration official at the Wagah check post said 30 Pakistanis had arrived there on Monday on foot like the 72 Indians who had crossed the Wagah-Attari border. The visa of the passengers had expired, added the official who wished not to be named.
