Global superstar Doja Cat is set to make a meaningful return to her roots. The Grammy-winning artist will headline two major concerts as part of the Doja Cat Move Afrika tour 2025.
The “Paint The Town Red” singer is the latest addition to the Move Afrika lineup. This initiative, launched in partnership with pgLang and Kendrick Lamar, brings world-class entertainment to the continent while creating sustainable economic opportunities.
Doja Cat will bring her signature energy to fans in Kigali and Pretoria this spring. She is scheduled to perform at Rwanda’s BK Arena on March 17. Following that, she will take the stage at South Africa’s SunBet Arena in Pretoria on March 20.
In a statement, the artist known for her South African heritage expressed her excitement. “From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change,” she said. She described the tour as a movement that creates lasting jobs and opportunities. “I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming, it’s already here.”
The Move Afrika tour has quickly grown into a significant platform for global artists. Kendrick Lamar headlined the inaugural event in Rwanda in 2023. In 2024, the initiative expanded to Ghana. It continued its growth in 2025 with a performance by John Legend, which also included a stop in Nigeria.
Doja Cat’s homecoming shows add to a busy touring year. Her global Tour Ma Vie trek began in New Zealand last November. She has since performed across arenas in Australia, Asia, and recently completed a South American leg in São Paulo, Brazil. Following her commitment to the Doja Cat Move Afrika tour 2025, she will resume her world tour. The upcoming legs will cover major cities across Europe and North America. The extensive tour is scheduled to conclude on Dec. 1 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Doja Cat’s African Homecoming
These concerts are particularly special for Doja Cat, who has openly spoken about her South African roots. While a previous opportunity to perform in South Africa was cancelled when the Hey Neighbour festival did not proceed in 2025, the Move Afrika dates officially mark her long-awaited performance on the continent. According to the official Move Afrika press release, these events are designed to foster local economic growth alongside the concerts.
Her performances are expected to feature a mix of her biggest hits and new material. Fans in both Kigali and Pretoria can anticipate a high-energy show from the pop-rap icon.
