Asher Azfar Mahesar, son of Rapid Response Force Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Azfar Mahesar, was involved in a car accident in Karachi’s Garden area, reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Police reports indicate that Asher was driving a government-plated vehicle and seriously injured a woman by hitting her with the car. At the scene, to disperse the gathering crowd, the two police personnel accompanying him fired shots into the air.
Following the incident, authorities detained Asher, DIG’s nephew Mubashir Raza, and two members of the Rapid Response Force, transferring them to the relevant police station. The injured woman was immediately taken to Civil Hospital for treatment.

The event adds to a history of controversies surrounding Asher; last year, videos surfaced online showing him discharging firearms, from assault rifles to handguns, in various public spaces, sometimes even while driving. These actions had previously drawn the attention of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, prompting an official investigation into the then DIG East’s son.
Despite these allegations, senior police officials had at the time dismissed the claims in the videos as mere propaganda, asserting his son’s innocence.
