On Tuesday, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs achieved a significant legal win when a federal judge dismissed evidence obtained during a cell search. Defence attorneys criticized the prosecutors for “outrageous conduct” and violating due process.
The dismissal comes ahead of Diddy’s third bail hearing, scheduled for Friday, November 22. Judge Arun Subramanian indicated he would not consider the 19 pages of notes seized during the raid and ordered the prosecution to destroy all copies.
The defence argued that the seized items included privileged communication between Combs and his attorneys, outlining trial strategies and witness credibility tactics. Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, called the raid a breach of attorney-client privilege and due process.
Prosecutors maintained that the raid was routine and unrelated to Diddy’s case, claiming the seized items were not legally privileged. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik stated that many personal notes contained birthdays and inspirational quotes.

Despite the dismissal, Diddy remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since his September arrest. His bail requests were previously denied twice due to concerns that he might influence witnesses.
Combs faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution. Prosecutors allege he organized high-end sex shows, coercing women to participate with male sex workers.
The defence also requested that Diddy appear without shackles at future hearings to prevent potential jury bias, given the case’s high-profile nature. While this legal win bolsters his defence, the outcome of Friday’s bail hearing remains uncertain.
