Variety revealed that The Devil Wears Prada 2 has expanded its cast, with additions including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and others, alongside returning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
The sequel is currently in production and is scheduled for release in theatres on May 1, 2026. Disney’s 20th Century Studios is producing it. The cast includes Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels), Justin Theroux (Beetlejuice), B.J. Novak (The Office), and Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls), along with Broadway stars Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, and comedian Caleb Hearon. Tracie Thoms (Lily) and Tibor Feldman (Irv Ravitz) will reprise their roles, while Kenneth Branagh will join the cast as Miranda Priestly’s husband, according to Deadline. While specific plot details are still under wraps, the sequel features Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) as she navigates the challenges posed by the decline of print media. She finds herself in conflict with her former assistant, Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt), who has now become a luxury brand executive with control over crucial advertising dollars. David Frankel directs the film, with Aline Brosh McKenna writing the screenplay, which is adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s novel. The production team will film on location in New York and Italy.

The 2006 film, a $326 million global hit based on Weisberger’s roman à clef about working for Anna Wintour, earned Streep an Oscar nomination. It followed Andy Sachs (Hathaway) enduring Priestly’s demands at Runway magazine, befriending Nigel Kipling (Tucci). The sequel, sparked by a 2024 SAG Awards reunion, counters Hathaway’s earlier doubts about a follow-up, per Vogue. Simone Ashley’s role adds intrigue, with 60% of fans excited for the original cast’s return.
