Details of the watches taken from the Toshakhana by Khawaja Asif, who waved his watch in the National Assembly, have come to light.
Before the speech of PML-N leader Khawaja Asif in the National Assembly session began, chants of ‘thief, thief’ erupted, leading to an uproar, turning the assembly into a fish market, and Khawaja Asif waved his watch in hand.
During Khawaja Asif’s speech in the National Assembly, a social media user shared details of the watches received by Khawaja Asif from the Toshakhana. A social media user named Moaz wrote: “These are details of 5 watches taken from the Toshakhana by Khawaja Asif, for which he paid less than 20% of the watches’ value.”
Senior journalist Khurram Iqbal shared a video of Khawaja Asif on X (Twitter), writing: “Khawaja Asif took off his watch and waved it during his speech, causing a commotion in the assembly.
According to the Toshakhana details, Khawaja Asif first kept a watch valued at 310,000 as the Defence Minister on April 30, 2014, by paying only 60,000 rupees.
On March 31, 2017, the Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif, kept a watch valued at 325,000 rupees by paying only 63,000 rupees.
As the Foreign Minister, on October 17, 2017, Khawaja Asif kept a watch and other items valued at 40 million rupees by paying 23,577,758 rupees. On December 5, 2017, he kept a watch and other items valued at 35 million rupees by paying only 8,874,000. Lastly, as the Foreign Minister on January 15, 2018, he kept a Rolex watch valued at 1.8 million rupees by paying only 354,000.
