DC Studios is collaborating with Warner Bros. Games studios Rocksteady and NetherRealm to develop a new series of DC Universe (DCU) video games. These games’ narratives will align closely with the broader DCU film and multimedia franchise, signalling a new integrated approach to the DC storytelling experience.
At a recent DC Studios event, Peter Safran discussed the unprecedented level of coordination with Warner Bros.’s gaming division, led by JB Perrette. “We sit with Rocksteady and NetherRealm, discussing characters and stories that fit our vision,” Safran explained. Gunn elaborated on their involvement, noting that they have actively reviewed early designs and provided guidance to ensure these developments sync with future DCU projects.

Gunn also mentioned that the first of these new DCU games is slated for a release that could come as soon as 2027, marking the beginning of what appears to be an extensive rollout of DC Universe titles. Safran hinted at “really interesting” projects in the pipeline following a Bloomberg report suggesting that Rocksteady is developing a new single-player Batman game, potentially a reboot distinct from the Arkham series.
