On May 19, 2025, Dawn Richard, a former Danity Kane member, returned to the witness stand in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial in Manhattan.
Last week, Richard testified that in 2009, she witnessed Combs physically assault his then-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, at his Los Angeles home, dragging her upstairs by the hair amid sounds of breaking glass and screaming. She alleged Combs later intimidated witnesses with flowers and career threats.
Diddy’s Legal Battle
Combs, 55, is facing five felony counts, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Since September 2024, he has been held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. If convicted, he could face a sentence of 15 years to life in prison. The trial has attracted significant media attention due to Combs’ prominence as the founder of Bad Boy Records and is expected to last for two months.

Ventura’s Allegations
Cassie Ventura, 38, the prosecution’s key witness, testified over four days, alleging Combs coerced her into drug-fueled “Freak Off” sex parties and abused her physically and emotionally during their 2007–2018 relationship. She described a 2018 rape incident post-breakup, though Combs’ defense presented text messages suggesting consensual encounters afterward. Pregnant with her third child, Ventura settled a 2023 civil lawsuit against Combs for $20 million.
Richard’s Lawsuit
Richard, who is also suing Combs civilly, alleges that he groped and assaulted her, creating inhumane working conditions. Additionally, she claims to have witnessed him repeatedly beating Ventura. Her testimony strengthens the prosecution’s case, which focuses on a pattern of coercion and abuse.
