The Taliban leadership in Afghanistan stated that its forces killed many Daesh members wanted for the attack on the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul last month.
Daesh militants attacked the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul on December 2, 2022, to kill Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, targeting Chargé d’Affaires (CdA), Afghanistan. The diplomat escaped uninjured, but the bodyguard was badly injured.
The terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the attack and confirmed their objective was the Pakistani envoy.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghan security forces operated in Kabul against a Daesh network that attacked the Pakistani consulate and a Chinese hotel.
According to Mujahid, Afghan forces fought Daesh insurgents in Kabul and Nimroz. They targeted three hideouts in Kabul’s Shahadai Salehin and Qalacha neighborhoods and Zaranj, Nimroz’s capital.
The statement added eight Daesh foreigners were murdered, and seven were captured alive. “Small guns, hand grenades, mines, vests and explosives were also seized,” he claimed. “Several suspected people were held for further investigation.”
The Foreign Office recalled envoy Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani for consultation amid deteriorating security in Kabul.
“By the grace of Allah Almighty, the Head of Mission is safe. However, a Pakistani security guard Sepoy Israr Mohammad has been critically injured in the attack while protecting the Head of Mission,” the FO immediately stated
Pakistan asked that the Afghan authorities investigate the attack, apprehend the perpetrators, hold them accountable, and secure the protection of Pakistani diplomats and people in Afghanistan.
