Daddy Yankee has initiated a lawsuit against his ex-wife, Mireddys Gonzalez, following their separation after nearly three decades. The San Juan Court of First Instance lawsuit accuses Gonzalez of unauthorized financial transactions involving up to $100 million from the singer’s corporate accounts.

Carlos Diaz Olivo, Daddy Yankee’s lawyer, reported that he issued several injunctions last Saturday against Gonzalez and her sister Ayeicha. These injunctions pertain to unauthorized transfers from El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, two of the singer’s business entities. According to reports, someone moved funds to personal accounts belonging to Gonzalez and her sister without Daddy Yankee’s consent.

Olivo explained, “For about a year and a half, in good faith, Mr. Ayala (Daddy Yankee’s real name) repeatedly requested access to the financial statuses of their companies from the Gonzalez sisters. Unfortunately, they consistently ignored these requests.”

He further highlighted the lack of transparency in the management of Daddy Yankee’s business finances, which “prevented him from understanding the management and financial commitments made under his brand.”

“The imprudent and careless management by the entities involved, and specifically, the unauthorized withdrawals of large sums, have necessitated legal action to protect Mr. Ayala’s rights and the stability of his business,” Olivo added.

The Divorce and Its Aftermath

The legal battle follows Daddy Yankee’s announcement on December 2 that he was responding to Gonzalez’s divorce petition. In a heartfelt social media post, the singer reflected on their shared history and his faith, which guided him through these challenging times.

“My faith in Christ has always been my refuge and was a constant guide as we tried to overcome our differences,” Daddy Yankee stated. He expressed his respect for Gonzalez and gratitude for the blessings of their long union.

This lawsuit marks a significant turn in what appeared to be an amicable separation, bringing to light complex legal and financial disputes often accompanying high-profile divorces.
