Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Chief Raja Umar Khattab has confirmed that CTD personnel involved in Sunday’s murder of a youth have been taken into custody after they surrendered themselves to police on Monday evening.
CTD chief Khattab while talking to media three CTD personnel turned themselves and the fourth of the police personnel who opened fire at the car, was arrested from his residence.
The CTD chief said, “The CTD police van was passing through Lucky Star area of Saddar, when they spotted a youth hanging on to a car door. The personnel tried to stop the car.”
Then, they chased after the car and opened fire to stop it, police official said adding the CTD team left the site after local police arrived on the spot.
Karachi police chief Mushtaq Mehar said DIG East will head an investigation team to probe Abrar murder case and SSP Faisal Chachar, Zulfiqar Mehar and SP Fahad will assist him.
Additional IG Karachi, Mushtaq Mehar said the murder case will be investigated on merit and every angle of the incident will be thoroughly explored.
It should be mentioned here that a youth was allegedly shot down by a policeman clad in civvies in Karachi area of Sindh Muslim Society yesterday night.
According to Abrar’s friend, Naqqash, a man, Dilnawaz telephoned Abrar in response to his internet advertisement to sell his mobile phone. Both of them agreed upon a venue to meet.
According to an eyewitness, sealing the deal, Dilnawaz tried to coax Abrar into accepting a prize bond in return for mobile phone. But, Abrar did not approve of the offer. On this, Dilnawaz tried to speed away in his car.
Abrar held on to the car’s door and was shot down by the policeman on board a van without a number plate. Dilnawaz also was wounded in the incident.
