On August 3, 2025, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) released the schedule for the Central Superior Services (CSS) 2026 exams, a key milestone for aspiring government servants in Pakistan. The examination process is divided into two phases:
- Phase 1: MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT)
- Public notice: August 10, 2025
- Applications: August 11–25, 2025
- Exam date: November 9, 2025
- Phase 2: Written Examination
- Public notice: December 14, 2025
- Applications: December 15–30, 2025
- Exam date: February 4, 2026
Candidates who pass the MPT will qualify for the written exam. The FPSC noted that the schedule is subject to change, urging candidates to monitor the official FPSC website for updates.
The National Assembly has approved increasing the CSS age limit from 30 to 35 years, effective from 2026, making the exam more accessible. Additionally, candidates will receive one extra attempt, enhancing opportunities to succeed in Pakistan’s prestigious competitive exam, which historically has a 98% failure rate due to its rigorous standards.
The FPSC encourages candidates to begin preparation early, given the exam’s competitive nature and its role in selecting Pakistan’s civil servants. Recently, Senator Rana Mahmood Ul Hassan, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, received a detailed briefing from FPSC officials on the exam process, highlighting efforts to address high failure rates and improve accessibility.
