A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday that Afghan border forces opened fire on a civilian area in Chaman city, Balochistan, with heavy weapons without warning. Six people were killed, and 17 others were hurt.
The military’s media branch says that the Afghan border forces did the attack with artillery and mortar.
The ISPR said that Pakistan’s troops at the border responded to the uncalled-for aggression in a fair and measured way, but they didn’t go after innocent civilians in the area.
The statement also said that Pakistani border forces had talked to Afghan officials in Kabul about how bad the situation was and asked them to take strict action so that it wouldn’t happen again.
