Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned football star for Al Nassr, set a new record for the most goals in a Saudi Pro League (SPL) season.
On Monday, Ronaldo scored twice against Al Ittihad, bringing his season tally to 35 goals. This achievement surpasses the previous 34 goals set by Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018-19 season, along with Al Nassr.
The 39-year-old former Real Madrid player celebrated on social media following this milestone. He posted a collage featuring his SPL achievements, prominently captioned, “All-time top scorer in a single SPL season.” Ronaldo’s post boldly declared, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me,” and included a Saudi Arabia flag emoji.
Since signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo is now just seven goals shy of reaching 900 career goals. A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he also holds the record for the most 128 international goals in 206 appearances for Portugal, surpassing other football legends like Pele and Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo’s next challenge will be leading Al Nassr in the King Cup final against Al Hilal on Friday.
