The crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders has intensified, with a recent wave of arrests targeting party officials in Lahore.
Law enforcement agencies conducted late-night raids at the residences of key PTI figures, including Lahore President Asghar Gujjar, Lahore General Secretary Hafiz Zeeshan Rasheed, and senior leader Yasir Gilani.
According to sources, Asghar Gujjar was detained during a raid on his home at 3 AM, which reportedly involved property damage caused by the police.
In parallel operations, more than fifty police officers raided the homes of Hafiz Zeeshan Rasheed and Engineer Yasir Gilani. Although Hafiz Zeeshan Rasheed was not at his residence during the raid, law enforcement, including plainclothes officers, maintained a heavy presence and continued to search the premises.
These actions follow earlier arrests, including PTI Information Secretary Rauf Hassan and other party workers. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also publicized a case involving PTI members’ alleged dissemination of anti-state statements. According to the case file, during an interrogation, accused Ahmad Waqas implicated twelve members of the PTI media cell in activities purportedly aimed at tarnishing the nation’s image.
The individuals named in the case include PTI Information Secretary Rauf Hassan, Waqas Ahmad, Afaq Ahmad Alvi, Zeeshan Farooq, Hameedullah, Syed Hamza, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Rizwan, and Syed Osama. These developments mark a significant escalation in the government’s actions against the opposition party, signalling ongoing political tensions within the country.
