An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has taken strict action against Aleema Khan. The court has ordered authorities to block her national identity card and passport.
The orders were issued because she repeatedly failed to appear in court. She is named in a case related to a PTI protest on November 26. ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued the directives during the hearing. The judge has taken multiple steps to enforce the court’s authority.
The court ordered the NADRA Chairman to block Aleema Khan’s CNIC. It also instructed the Director General of Immigration to block her passport. Furthermore, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan was directed to freeze all her bank accounts. The court also ordered the confiscation of her guarantor’s property for failing to ensure her presence.

The court’s decision comes a day after a confusing incident. On Thursday, Rawalpindi police had an opportunity to arrest her at the Islamabad High Court. She was present there for a separate hearing. Police arrived with an arrest warrant, which she signed, and she surrendered herself.
However, the police chose not to arrest her. An officer reportedly told her to “come back to court tomorrow.” Speaking to the media outside the court, Aleema Khan said she was prepared for arrest. She expressed confusion as to why the police left after obtaining her signature. The hearing has been adjourned until October 27.
