In an alarming incident from West Bengal, India, a couple reportedly sold their eight-month-old baby to afford the newest iPhone 14 and record eye-catching Instagram reels during their travels.
The troubling situation was discovered when neighbours grew concerned about the missing baby and the parents’ indifference. Their suspicions escalated upon seeing the couple with a luxury iPhone, despite their known previous financial struggles.
Prompted by this unsettling behaviour, the neighbours reported the situation to local law enforcement.
Upon investigation, the mother allegedly confessed to the police that they sold their child to fund the purchase of the iPhone to document their travels across West Bengal’s stunning landscapes on Instagram.
The police have initiated a case against the couple and the woman accused of buying the baby, pressing charges of human trafficking.
