On May 28, 2025, Microsoft launched public testing of its Copilot for Gaming AI chatbot, designed to enhance the Xbox gaming experience. Available in the beta version of the Xbox app for iOS and Android, this Xbox AI chatbot offers gamers personalised tips, game recommendations, and account insights, as announced in a Microsoft Xbox newsroom post.
The Copilot for Gaming is a second-screen feature that doesn’t interrupt gameplay. To provide tailored responses, it accesses users’ Xbox activity play history, achievements, and account data. For example, gamers can ask how to craft a sword in Minecraft or defeat a boss in Hogwarts Legacy. The chatbot also pulls web-based information to answer queries comprehensively.

Currently available in English for users 18 and older, the beta is active in regions like Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the US. Microsoft confirmed that the European Union and UK will join later.
The Microsoft gaming AI shines in its versatility. Users can request game recommendations based on their play history or describe preferred genres for tailored suggestions. Additionally, the chatbot answers questions about Xbox achievements and subscription details, making it a valuable tool for gamers.
Microsoft encourages beta testers to share feedback to refine the AI game recommendations and overall experience. This testing phase ensures the chatbot meets gamers’ needs before a wider rollout.
