A man convicted of murder was executed earlier today in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
Ahmed Khan was sentenced to death for kidnapping and murdering a person in 2008.
Khan was sent to the gallows early morning today (May 16).
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted a de facto moratorium on capital punishment on December 17, a day after Pakistani Taliban gunmen attacked a school and slaughtered almost 150 students and teachers.
The massacre put pressure on the government to do more to tackle the militant insurgency.
There are more than 8,000 Pakistanis on death row currently.
