Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appointed committee is scheduled to conduct its first meeting on Thursday to discuss the subject of Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup, set to be hosted in India.
Agenda and Attendees of the Meeting
The committee meeting, led by its head and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, will focus on Pakistan’s engagement in the global cricket tournament. It will specifically review Ahmedabad as the proposed location for the eagerly-awaited Pakistan vs. India match. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, is among the expected attendees.
This 14-member committee is a mix of various ministers and advisors, including those from foreign, interior, law, Inter-Provincial Coordination, and information and broadcasting ministries, advisors on Kashmir affairs and Establishment, the foreign secretary, PSPM, and representatives from secret agencies and sensitive departments.
The committee’s conclusions will be presented to Prime Minister Sharif post-meeting, whose ultimate decision will dictate Pakistan’s involvement in the highly anticipated event.
