Comedian James Austin Johnson impersonated Trump in a sketch, jokingly saying, “Well folks, it happened. I got indicted, or as I spell it: indicated.” He pretended to confess, saying, “Frankly, it’s time that I come clean, admit that I broke the law, and go quietly to prison. April Fools! That was a prank.”
In the skit, Johnson’s Trump character claimed that the actions of the “radical left Democrats” were worse than any crime he had committed, admitting to having committed nearly 34 offenses. The performance featured Trump singing comical versions of songs, asserting that his song “Justice for All” would surpass Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” as the number-one hit.
While the audience enjoyed the performance, one Twitter user commented that Johnson’s portrayal might not resemble Trump’s appearance, but his voice matched perfectly.
In reality, Trump allegedly pays hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels, potentially making him the first ex-president to face criminal charges. However, the specific charges remain undisclosed, as the indictment is still under seal.
CNN reported that Trump could face over 30 counts related to business fraud. Trump denies any wrongdoing and insists he is “completely innocent.” Despite the criminal charges, he has pledged not to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, accusing District Attorney Bragg of engaging in “political persecution and election interference.”
Trump has also asked supporters to contribute to his legal defense, raising over $2 million.
