COAS hails ISI’s achievements

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif praised intelligence agencies during a visit to the Inter-Services intelligence (ISI) headquarters on Friday.

COAS on Friday visited the headquarters of ISI and lauded its role for thwarting terror attacks.

In a statement, Military’s chief spokesman Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa said that the army chief appreciated the ISI in preempting numerous terror acts in the last few months.

The Director General, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar briefed him about internal and external security situation of the country and counter terrorism operations.

The army chief emphasized the need to enhance capacity of intelligence agencies to further prevent such acts from happening,.

“The COAS directed focus on synergising operations and capacity enhancement of civil-military intelligence agencies at national level for optimum effect,” he said

The army chief was briefed by DG ISI Lt General Rizwan Akhtar on the internal and external security situation of the country, and continuing counter terrorism operations.
