General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has arrived in the United Kingdom for an official visit to attend the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The conference serves as a key platform for fostering Pakistan-UK military dialogue, bringing together senior policymakers, military officials, and security experts from both nations to address regional security issues and strengthen strategic cooperation.
During the visit, General Munir will deliver a keynote address titled “The Emerging World Order and Pakistan’s Future Outlook. ” In it, he will outline Pakistan’s perspective on the changing global landscape and the region’s challenges and offer insights into Pakistan’s role in evolving security dynamics.
Upon his arrival, the army chief received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground, symbolizing the significance of Pakistan-UK defence ties.
General Munir is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with key British officials, including Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the UK’s Chief of Defence Staff, and General Sir Roland Walker, the British Army’s Chief of the General Staff. These discussions will cover strategic cooperation, counterterrorism efforts, and regional security matters.
The army chief will also meet with UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to discuss bilateral security cooperation and the common challenges both nations face.
The visit is part of Pakistan and the UK’s long-standing defence relationship, which includes joint counterterrorism training, military exchanges, and strategic dialogues. These initiatives are crucial in enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries.
As part of his official itinerary, General Munir will also tour various British military units, including the Land Warfare Centre and the 1st Strike Brigade. During these visits, he will receive briefings on the UK’s military modernisation efforts and ongoing initiatives to enhance defence capabilities.
