Army Chief Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has refuted claims that he received any correspondence from imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan.
During an informal interaction with the media, General Munir emphasized, “I have not received any letter from anyone.” He clarified his stance on handling such matters, asserting that any letters received would be promptly forwarded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
General Munir also took the opportunity to express his optimism about Pakistan’s trajectory, confidently stating, “Pakistan is moving forward and will continue to progress.”
This statement follows allegations from PTI that it had sent multiple letters to the Army Chief, a claim that was subsequently denied by security sources. Imran Khan had even indicated his intent to send a third letter to General Munir.
Amid these political exchanges, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khanum, shed light on the letters’ purpose during a media interaction on Wednesday. She emphasized their aim to garner support from the establishment and the Chief Justice in aligning with the populace’s sentiments. She mentioned that the letters were open for public scrutiny, advocating for unity between the army and the nation against terrorism.

PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Imran Khan’s counsel, Faisal Chaudhry, provided further insights into these communications. They revealed that Imran Khan penned a letter detailing the growing rift between the military and the public, which he sent as the former Prime Minister.
During a press briefing, Barrister Gohar quoted Khan, praising the Pakistani armed forces’ sacrifices and highlighting the need for harmony between the public and the army to avoid chaos. Faisal Chaudhry confirmed that the letter was indeed sent to General Munir, emphasizing Khan’s role in fostering national unity during his tenure as Prime Minister.
