Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Chief Minister of Punjab, has vowed to stand by Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Imran Khan called off his long march to Islamabad last week and announced to dissolved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab assemblies.
According to PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, the party’s leadership has accepted the dissolution of the provincial assembly in both provinces. Still, the final decision would be taken after additional deliberations.
CM Punjab visited Imran Khan today at the PTI chief’s Lahore residence; Elahi reaffirmed his commitment to Imran Khan and emphasized that he “owed” the Punjab Assembly to him.
Earlier in a video message on Twitter, Elahi stated that he would not “hesitate for a second” if Khan instructed him to dissolve the parliament. He will continue to back all of the PTI leader’s choices.
He stated that those responsible for spreading misinformation in the PTI and PML-Q camps would “fail again” as he criticized the opposition for claiming to be in communication with government MPs.
“Imran Khan is necessary,” stated CM Elahi, challenging the opposition to file a vote of no confidence against him. They have previously failed and will fail again.
The leader of the PML-Q stated that those who believe they can overturn the Punjab administration are “daydreaming.” He said that the opposition lacks the required number of members.
“If the Punjab Assembly is in session, the governor cannot impose his rule. Therefore, I respectfully request that the opposition read the rules of procedure.”
“I shall act resolutely regardless of what Imran Khan says. I will lay down my life for Imran Khan, but not for the Punjab Assembly, “The chief executive added.
Pervez Khattak, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), told journalists that the discussion was “excellent overall” and that Khan will make the ultimate decision on all subjects.
“Together with Chaudhry, we are one. Khan Saab serves as our leader. Later, all the decisions that have been made would be disclosed, “The former KP leader remarked.
Khattak stated that both leaders had agreed on all issues and that the Chief Minister of Punjab had pledged to abide by Khan’s choices. Elahi stands by his statements.
The leader of the PTI stated that he did not want “groupings or divides” within the party, citing the commitment of the establishment to keep out of politics.
