On July 1, 2025, Cambridge International Education (CIE) announced that students affected by the partial leak of three AS & A Level exam papers in June 2025 can retake them for free in November.
The affected papers include AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12, Mathematics Paper 42, and Computer Science Paper 22. CIE’s investigation, reported to the Federal Ministry of Education, confirmed credible evidence of malpractice. One question was leaked before Mathematics Paper 12, parts of two questions were leaked before Mathematics Paper 42, and parts of one question were leaked before Computer Science Paper 22, all of which were shared shortly before the exams.
CIE will issue results for the affected syllabuses as normal, but will offer free retakes in November 2025 to ensure fairness. The board has communicated with candidates and their families through schools, providing further details after the results. Students with questions are directed to contact their schools. This proactive measure aims to maintain trust and equity in the examination process.
CIE’s investigation, completed last month, identified the scope of the leaks and confirmed corrupt practices. The report, shared with the Federal Ministry of Education, underscores CIE’s commitment to integrity. By offering free resits, CIE addresses the impact on students, ensuring no candidate is disadvantaged due to the breach.
