Karachiites experienced a chilly start to their day as temperatures fell sharply in Quetta; the mercury plunged below zero, reaching lows of -7°C in Kalat and -3°C in Mastung due to the ongoing cold wave affecting several parts of the country.
On this particularly brisk Sunday morning in Karachi, temperatures notably decreased. The city’s minimum temperature recorded at 12.7°C over the last 24 hours and currently stands at 13°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that with northeasterly winds travelling at seven kilometres per hour, the maximum temperature in Karachi is anticipated to be 29°C today.

In Balochistan, winter’s grip tightened, and Quetta experienced temperatures as low as -2°C. Similarly, severe cold has struck northern and central areas of the province, causing water to freeze in multiple locations.
Moreover, unexpected gas and electricity shortages complicate daily life for many residents amid these harsh weather conditions.
Following a “mild cold wave” alert for Sindh issued by the Met Office on Saturday, with nighttime temperatures expected to range between 7 °C and 9°C, Friday’s forecast indicated an escalation of the cold spell due to impending rain and snowfall.
