The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (SA) and his devoted companions will take place on Monday, commemorated with profound religious reverence to honor their ultimate sacrifices for Islam.
Chehlum, observed 40 days after the Day of Ashura, commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (SA) and his 72 companions at the Battle of Karbala in 61 A.H.
Across various cities and towns, mourning processions will take place, paying homage to the martyrs of Karbala. In Karachi, the main procession will start from Nishtar Park and end at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar, following a traditional route. For security, organizers have secured all passages along the procession routes with containers.
To enhance security, authorities have stationed additional police and Rangers in Numaish and surrounding areas in Karachi.
The traffic plan details that the road from Nishtar Park to Imambargah Hussainia Irania near Kakri Ground will be closed. The main procession begins in Lahore at Haveli Alif Shah and concludes at Karbala Gamay Shah via designated routes.
Cellular and internet services will be unavailable in Karachi and other parts of Sindh province on Chehlum’s occasion.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has indicated that this suspension, implemented at the request of the Interior Ministry, serves to maintain law and order during the observances. The suspension affects areas in Karachi, including Saddar, Clifton, Defence, North Karachi, New Karachi, Ancholi, Liaquatabad, Gulbahar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, and Malir. Service disruptions will also affect Hyderabad, Thatta, Dadu, Sujawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Rohri, and Larkana.
