ChatGPT is becoming easier to use for users who repeatedly return to the same conversations, as testing begins on a new feature designed to speed up access to favourite chats. The update aims to reduce the extra steps often required to reopen ongoing conversations used for recurring tasks or long-term projects.
While users can already pin conversations within the app or on the web, an upcoming Android feature goes a step further. It allows selected chats to be placed directly on a phone’s home screen, making them accessible with a single tap. This approach mirrors how mobile browsers allow users to create shortcuts to specific websites for faster access.
The feature has been spotted in version 1.2025.350 of the ChatGPT Android app. A new “Add to home screen” option appears in the three-dot menu inside individual chats. When selected, it creates a launcher shortcut that behaves like a standard app icon.

Currently, the shortcut automatically uses the chat’s existing title and does not allow renaming. There also appears to be no restriction on how many conversation shortcuts users can add to their home screen.
A key benefit of the feature is how the shortcut works. Instead of opening the main app interface, users are taken directly to the selected conversation. This direct access can save time for frequent users who rely on a single thread for ongoing work or reference.
Although the feature is still in testing and not yet available to all users, early indications suggest it works smoothly. Given its current state, it is likely to roll out more widely in a future update, making regular use of ChatGPT faster and more convenient for Android users.
