British journalist Charles Glass, originating from the US, was reportedly deported from Pakistan after his attempts to visit imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail were denied.

According to sources, authorities transported Glass to the airport following the cancellation of his visa.

Glass had emailed Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to seek permission to meet Khan, the founder of PTI. He reported to the minister that his access to the jail was restricted despite a court order.

Khan has been detained for nearly a year, arrested on multiple charges from terrorism to corruption, all of which he denies, since August 5 of the previous year.

Only a day prior, the 72-year-old former cricketer and politician had expressed his readiness to engage in talks with the military to alleviate the ongoing political crisis triggered by his removal through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.

The deportation allegedly occurred four days after Glass disclosed his prohibition from meeting Khan, whom he considers a friend. Upon arriving in Islamabad last week to visit Khan, Glass clarified to the media, “I am here [in Pakistan] as a friend of Imran Khan, not as a lawyer or activist.”
