In a heated contest at Smoothie King Center, the Miami Heat secured a 106-95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, a game marked by a notable brawl.
The altercation, initiated in the fourth quarter, led to the ejection of Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler and three others. The incident began when Naji Marshall aggressively confronted Butler, escalating tensions.
At 34, Butler took issue with 26-year-old Marshall’s provocative actions following a contentious play involving Heat’s Kevin Love and Pelicans’ Zion Williamson. Love’s attempt to halt Williamson resulted in Marshall’s intervention, sparking the conflict.
Subsequently, Thomas Bryant of the Heat and the Pelicans’ Jose Alvarado were expelled for their involvement, complicating the fray further. The disruption extended beyond the court as a Pelicans supporter was removed for targeting Heat players with objects, and a Heat fan faced ejection amidst the commotion.
After a thorough review, officials confirmed the ejections, attributing the initial confrontation to Love’s foul on Williamson.
