The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the Zil Hajj’s moon sighting will be held today.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony stated that Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will chair the meeting.

Representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Department of Meteorology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology will attend the meeting.

Simultaneously, zonal committees of Rawat Hilal will conduct their meetings in their respective cities to contribute to the national effort.

If the moon is sighted today, the first day of Zil Hajj will be observed on June 20 (Tuesday), and the festive occasion of Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday).

The Met Office has predicted the moon’s birth on June 18 at 9:37 pm, with visibility likely on June 19. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee traditionally meets on the 29th of each Islamic month to sight the moon.

In related news, the Zil Hajj crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The first day of the Zil Hajj month in the kingdom will be June 19 (today). If the moon is sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eid ul Adha will be observed on June 28.
