The caretaker government has elevated the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to a division. This change is effective immediately, as stated by a Cabinet Division notification on Monday.
The IB’s Director General will now also act as the Division’s Secretary. The IB Division will operate within the Cabinet Division.
“The Prime Minister has sanctioned the formation of the Intelligence Bureau Division,” the announcement read. It will be part of the Cabinet Secretariat. The Director General of IB will serve as the Secretary.
The announcement also noted the removal of specific clauses from the Rules of Business, 1973. Adjustments to these rules will follow.
In another move, oversight of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shifted to the Cabinet Division. This places the PCB under the Prime Minister’s Office. Previously, it was accountable to the Inter-Provincial Coordination Ministry.
