Cambridge International Education released the results for its largest-ever June exam series, including the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), O-Level, and International AS and A-Level exams.
The organization reported a significant participation increase, with over 1.6 million entries globally for the June 2024 exams, marking a 9% increase from the previous year. In Pakistan alone, over 100,000 students from 683 schools participated in these exams, with over 226,000 entries for the Cambridge O-Levels and IGCSEs and more than 125,000 for the AS and A-Levels.
Popular subjects for the O-Level and IGCSE exams included Pakistan Studies, Islamiyat, Mathematics, English Language, and Urdu as a Second Language. For the AS and A-Levels, the favoured subjects were Physics, Mathematics, Business, Chemistry, and Computer Science, with Business overtaking Chemistry and Computer Science replacing Economics in popularity this year.
The statement highlighted that Cambridge programs focus on academic knowledge and emphasize skill development in problem-solving, critical thinking, independent research, collaboration, and presenting arguments, preparing students for future challenges.
Furthermore, Cambridge, part of the University of Cambridge and a not-for-profit organization reported receiving over 1.9 million entries for its global exam series in May and June 2024, representing a 10% increase from the previous year. The organization provides qualifications to nearly one million students in 160 countries annually, leveraging over 160 years of experience delivering international exams.
