The postponement aligns with Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat’s announcement of a two-day deferral of intermediate exams and practicals, with all educational institutions closed on May 9-10, per The Express Tribune. Revised schedules will be shared soon, amid heightened security following India’s May 6 airstrikes, per Reuters.
The cancellations follow India’s airstrikes on Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, killing 31 civilians, and Pakistan’s retaliation, downing five Indian jets and 25 Harop drones, per Al Jazeera. According to Geo News, three explosions in Lahore’s Gulberg area on May 8 heightened fears. As per Bloomberg, Punjab’s emergency measures, including airport closures until 6:00 PM, disrupted 57 flights.
