Journalist Ansar Abbasi has reported that the release of Bushra Bibi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s wife, may be part of an undisclosed agreement with the Pakistani establishment.
According to Abbasi, details of this arrangement remain highly confidential, and only a select few within the party, including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), are privy to the information.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, reportedly disclosed to party leaders that he played a pivotal role in Bushra Bibi’s recent liberation from incarceration.
Sources within the PTI have revealed that authorities informed Gandapur beforehand that they would not arrest Bushra Bibi on any additional charges. They also assured him they would secure her safety and manage her transit following her release from Adiala Jail.

Ansar Abbasi’s report indicates that although authorities assured Gandapur of no further detention for Bushra Bibi, they have not disclosed any details regarding assurances to those who helped secure her release.
A PTI official, preferring anonymity, stated that Gandapur took credit for orchestrating the release of the party founder’s wife after nine months in detention. Yet, he offered no further details on his role.
Moreover, he emphasized his unique position as Chief Minister, being the only party leader with direct links to the establishment and maintaining regular contact with Imran Khan. Internal party discussions suggest that only Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and Gandapur know the reasons behind her release without further conditions.

A credible governmental source recently disclosed to the media that Bushra Bibi’s release did not stem from any deal but rather from a judicial decision granting her bail, leading to the decision not to retain her in custody. The Islamabad High Court’s decision to grant her bail based on the case’s merits concerning the illegal sale of government gifts confirmed this. This release last Thursday marks a significant legal victory for Imran Khan and his family, the first since last August.
