Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, visibly wept during a hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, lamenting that justice in Pakistan “doesn’t exist.”
At her husband’s bail hearing, she voiced her deep frustration, denouncing what she termed “systematic unfairness” that has persisted for nine months.
“There is no justice. I came here not expecting any,” she declared emotionally. Challenging the judicial system’s integrity, she questioned, “Isn’t the person inside [Imran Khan] human?
Furthermore, Bushra Bibi criticized her legal team, accusing them of inefficiency and stated her preparedness to be imprisoned.
She conveyed that she and her husband have faced widespread injustice in Pakistan, claiming they have been unjustly punished.
The court has deferred a decision on the couple’s bail applications.
The session, overseen by Additional Sessions Judge Mohammad Afzal Magoo, heard bail pleas in seven cases involving the former Prime Minister and his wife.
During the session, when lawyer Salman Safdar requested a court order for Khan’s video-linked appearance, the proceedings continued with discussions on the Toshakhana case, which alleges fraudulent documentation involving five accused, including the couple.
The prosecution accused them of submitting fake receipts, a claim scrutinized by the judge who demanded evidence of the receipts’ presentation.
Salman Safdar pointed out discrepancies in the Election Commission’s statements regarding the case against Khan. He argued against a video-linked appearance due to technical issues, suggesting the court could rule on Bushra Bibi’s case as she was present.
After hearing all arguments and the investigative officer’s statement, the court decided to reserve its judgment on the bail applications for both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, registered in 2023 across several police stations.
