Former Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s elder brother, Iqbal Javed Bajwa, resigned after being scrutinised and discovered to hold a fake degree.
Iqbal Bajwa resigned as Deputy Station Manager for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in the UK. Despite holding the fraudulent degree, no disciplinary action was taken against him, and he was allowed to retire with full benefits and dues.
Iqbal Javed Bajwa acquired British citizenship in 1980, which added another layer of controversy to his career. His connection to high-ranking military leadership during General Bajwa’s tenure raised questions about nepotism and influence within PIA, as his sister-in-law also held a prominent position as the Head of HR at the airline.
This situation has fueled public criticism, with many likening it to the saying, “He who has the stick, has the buffalo,” which has now evolved to, “He who has the stick owns the country.” The incident has highlighted concerns over the misuse of power and favouritism in state institutions.
