Millie Slater, a 20-year-old marketing executive from Northamptonshire, England, has become a social media sensation after losing 48 kg in just one year. She achieved this remarkable transformation by adopting a straightforward gym routine that included weight training and incline treadmill walking.

Her journey, detailed in a viral TikTok video, shows her progression from 115 kg in January 2023 to a lean 67 kg. The video, demonstrating her toned physique, has amassed over 400,000 views. Slater credits her success to a disciplined approach to fitness and nutrition, avoiding fad diets and focusing on protein intake and calorie tracking.

In an interview with Newsweek, she explained that the key to her gym routine was the 12-3-30 workout, a method popularized by influencer Lauren Giraldo. This involves walking at a 12% incline at 3 miles per hour for 30 minutes, a strategy that maximizes calorie burn while being minimally impactful.

Recent research supports the effectiveness of incline walking. Findings published in the Journal of Biomechanics indicate significant increases in calorie expenditure at elevated inclines. HealthCentral notes that a person weighing 150 pounds can burn about 300 calories in a 30-minute session of the 12-3-30 workout, highlighting its efficiency.
