The investigation into the murder of journalist Hassan Zaib in Nowshera has implicated his first wife’s brother as a key suspect.
During a detailed investigation, authorities have made considerable progress, uncovering that the brother of Zaib’s first wife played a crucial role in orchestrating the murder. In connection with the crime, the police have detained both the father and son accused of involvement.
District Police Officer (DPO) Azhar Khan provided insights into the case at a press conference, explaining that a hired assassin executed the murder for a payment of one lakh rupees. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the contract killer, with specific teams assigned to this task.
Further investigation revealed that Bilal, the brother of Zaib’s first wife, had negotiated the assassination. “The murder stemmed from a financial dispute over a plot sold by Hassan Zaib to the suspects for 3.7 million rupees,” DPO Khan stated.
The delay in payment for this plot led to a series of conflicts, including fights, verbal confrontations, and threats, which ultimately culminated in Zaib’s tragic death.
DPO Khan also noted that Hassan Zaib was involved in various business ventures, including selling mobile phones, electronics, and motorcycles on instalment plans. However, it was a personal property dispute that led to his murder.
The police cracked the case within ten days of the incident, obtaining a two-day physical remand for the arrested suspects to further the investigation.
