Researchers at the California-based startup REMspace have reached a groundbreaking achievement by enabling two individuals to communicate while in lucid dreams, where individuals are aware that they are dreaming.
Using specialized equipment and a language dubbed “Remmyo,” the participants exchanged messages successfully during their sleep.
This significant breakthrough, resulting from years of research, paves the way for new possibilities in dream communication and could impact both commercial and scientific realms.
The experiment involved two volunteers in different locations who entered lucid dreams while their brain activity was monitored remotely.
The first participant received a random word through earbuds, repeated it in the dream, and the message was captured. Eight minutes later, the second participant entered a lucid dream, received the message, and confirmed it upon waking.
This event marked the first-ever “chat” exchanged through lucid dreams.
Michael Raduga, CEO and founder of REMspace, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “Yesterday, communicating in dreams seemed like science fiction. Tomorrow, it will be so common we won’t be able to imagine our lives without this technology.”
“We believe that REM sleep and lucid dreams will reshape how we think about communication and interaction,” he noted.
