The State Bank of Pakistan has issued a directive requiring all commercial bank branches to operate this Saturday, November 29, 2025. The special banking hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM will facilitate taxpayers making government duty and tax payments.
All commercial bank branches, including designated National Bank of Pakistan branches handling customs duties, will remain open during extended Saturday hours. This measure aims to simplify over-the-counter payments for government taxes and duties.
The special schedule provides taxpayers with additional time to complete their financial obligations conveniently.
According to the central bank’s instructions, NBP branches that manually collect government receipts must settle transactions with SBP field offices. This should be done immediately following the same-day clearing cycle.
The National Institutional Facilitation Technologies will conduct a special clearing session at 5:30 PM. This session is to process all government payment instruments collected on November 29. NIFT will provide clearing fate results by 11:30 PM the same day.
This coordinated approach between the State Bank, commercial banks, and clearing services ensures efficient processing of government revenues. The special banking day demonstrates the financial sector’s commitment to supporting national revenue collection efforts.
The directive represents a significant operational adjustment for Pakistan’s banking sector, prioritising taxpayer convenience while maintaining strict settlement protocols.
