Bluey, the beloved puppy from the award-winning children’s TV series, will grace cinema screens in 2027 before streaming on Disney+, ABC iView, and ABC Kids in Australia. This film represents a significant milestone for the popular show.
Partnering with Disney, BBC Studios will bring this much-anticipated film to audiences. The narrative follows Bluey, a blue heeler-dog, and her family as they transform ordinary events into exciting adventures.
Joe Brumm, creator of the show, shared his enthusiasm: “I’ve always envisioned a theatrical release for Bluey. It’s designed as a family experience to be enjoyed together.”
Originally co-commissioned by ABC and BBC Studios in 2017, the series is produced by Ludo Studios in Australia. Available in over 140 countries, Bluey ranks as the top program on CBeebies and Disney+ in the UK and was the most-watched series globally on Disney+ this year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The show has received multiple accolades, including Television Critics Association Awards in 2023 and 2024, and a Peabody Award. Last year, it amassed over 20 billion streaming minutes on Disney+ in the US, ranking among the top ten most-viewed streaming programs.
The film will include original voice actors Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, who voice Bluey’s parents, Chilli and Bandit Heeler. Joff Bush, the show’s composer, will create the film’s music.
