Bluesky Confirms Its AI Models Are Not Trained on User Posts. Bluesky has reiterated that it does not utilize user data to train its generative artificial intelligence (AI) models.
The clarification comes amid concerns from users and creators about the platform’s privacy policies regarding AI. Despite using AI tools internally for functions like content moderation and its Discover feed, which suggests posts based on user activity the company maintains that it does not employ public or private user posts for AI training.
In response to the privacy concerns voiced by several artists and creators, Bluesky confirmed, “We do not use any of your content to train generative AI and have no intention of doing so.” The company also uses AI to enhance its content moderation systems and to power its algorithmic Discover feed, which recommends posts by analyzing user interactions.

Third-Party Data Use
While Bluesky does not train AI on user data, The Verge has reported that third-party firms may still scrape the platform to collect data for their models. A company spokesperson, Emily Liu, stated that although Bluesky’s robots.txt files do not prevent these activities, the issue is being discussed internally to ensure that external organizations adhere to user consent practices.
