Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will reportedly skip the 2025 Met Gala, marking their third consecutive year absent from fashion’s most prestigious event.
According to TMZ, the couple decided before Lively’s legal battle with It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni made headlines.
The pair last attended the Met Gala in 2022 as co-chairs and have become synonymous with their show-stopping appearances at the event. Sources close to the couple confirmed their absence is unrelated to Lively’s ongoing litigation, stating they “made the call long before any of that unfolded.”

Blake Lively’s 2022 appearance marked her tenth time at the Met Gala. That year, she and Reynolds co-chaired alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda for the “Gilded Glamour” theme. Lively stunned in a custom Atelier Versace gown that transformed mid-ascent on the Metropolitan Museum steps, revealing a breathtaking aqua hue—a moment still celebrated as one of the most iconic in Met Gala history.
According to Page Six, in 2024, the couple prioritized family time with their four children. They recently made a rare public appearance at SNL’s 50th-anniversary celebration, showcasing their enduring bond.
