Blake Lively, once recognized as a leading figure in Hollywood, is currently facing significant backlash following the release of her August 2024 film, “It Ends With Us.”
The film, which addresses the serious issue of domestic abuse, has sparked online debates, particularly amid rumours of tension between Lively and her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
Disappointment has surfaced among fans and critics who argue that Lively has not adequately communicated the film’s intense themes in her promotional tactics. Instead, many accuse her of trivializing the subject with inappropriate jokes during interviews.
Lively recently shared the contact information of the National Domestic Violence Hotline on her Instagram Story to address her concerns. While this move aimed to offer support, it has not fully mitigated the criticism. Many still find her promotional strategy insensitive to the film’s grave content.
Compounding the issue, a 2016 interview that resurfaced recently has attracted fresh scrutiny over Lively’s demeanour, exacerbating the critique of her public interactions.

Moreover, Lively has been criticized for making light-hearted remarks about Catherine, Princess of Wales, before Kate’s cancer diagnosis announcement in March 2024. A TikTok user noted that Lively appeared to exploit the situation for promotional gain, particularly for her beverage brands, Betty Buzz and Betty Booze. These comments, seen as poorly timed given Kate’s health challenges, prompted Lively to apologise, acknowledging that her humour had been inappropriate.
As Lively navigates this challenging phase, her public image has suffered. The accumulation of marketing missteps and past controversies has made many question her judgment and sensitivity.
