Excitement is mounting for the sequel to the 2018 hit black comedy crime thriller A Simple Favor, which reunites stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick for another intriguing adventure.
Blake Lively recently announced on her social media that “Another Simple Favor” will premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 7, 2025, at the iconic Paramount Theatre in Austin.
Directed by Paul Feig, the sequel promises to captivate audiences with its blend of suspense and humour. It will be available worldwide on Prime Video starting May 1, 2025. The original film introduced viewers to the complex dynamic between Stephanie Smothers (played by Anna Kendrick), a widowed vlogger, and Emily (played by Blake Lively), a glamorous PR director. Tily’s mysterious disappearance thickens the plot, leading to unexpected twists and a deep dive into secrets and manipulation.
“Another Simple Favor” transports the intrigue to the scenic island of Capri, Italy, setting the stage for Emily’s lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. The festivities soon give way to a web of lies, secrets, and betrayals, pulling Stephanie into her friend Emily’s enigmatic world again.
In addition to her film projects, Blake Lively is involved in a legal battle with actor Justin Baldoni. Lively has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, with proceedings set to go to trial on March 9, 2026. Meanwhile, Baldoni has updated his lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, including allegations from an intimacy coordinator from the set of “It Ends With Us.”
