A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor, Ravinder Singh Negi, gained attention after he was filmed rowing an inflatable boat on a waterlogged Delhi street, protesting against the Delhi government’s handling of the situation.
Ravinder Singh Negi criticized the AAP-led government for not clearing the drains before the monsoon, leading to severe waterlogging in Vinod Nagar. The video quickly spread across social media platforms.
In a related event, BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia walked through the waterlogged streets of North West Delhi, accusing the AAP government of inadequate pre-monsoon preparations. He highlighted the lack of drainage cleaning, attributing it to the negligence of the AAP MLA.
The Indian Meteorological Department noted that Delhi experienced an unprecedented 228 mm of rainfall from the evening of June 27 to the morning of June 28, marking the highest June rainfall since 1936.
Furthermore, the roof of a recently renovated terminal at New Delhi’s international airport collapsed under heavy rainfall, resulting in one fatality and injuries to eight people. The incident occurred at the Terminal 1 departure area, recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
