On August 8, 2025, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known as Harry Boxer, threatened Bollywood star Salman Khan, warning actors, producers, and directors against collaborating with him.
Per India Today, in an audio clip, Boxer claimed responsibility for a shooting outside Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Café in Surrey, Canada, on August 7, stating, “Anyone who works with Salman Khan will be shot.” The threats follow Khan’s appearance on Sharma’s Netflix show, which premiered June 21, 2025.

The attack on Kap’s Café, the second incident in a month following a shooting on July 10, left bullet holes but thankfully resulted in no injuries. The café’s now-deleted Instagram post expressed heartbreak, stating, “We opened Kap’s Café to bring warmth and community.” The animosity the Bishnoi gang holds against Khan originates from his 1998 blackbuck hunting case, which is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. Tensions escalated after a shooting outside his Mumbai residence in April 2024, which led to two arrests.

Harjeet Singh Laddi, linked to Babbar Khalsa International, also claimed responsibility, citing remarks about Nihang Sikhs’ attire on Sharma’s show. Boxer, a Rajasthan native with a criminal record, reportedly manages Bishnoi’s U.S. operations after illegally immigrating in 2014. The incidents have fueled calls in Canada to designate the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organisation due to its involvement in murders and extortion.
